THE PLANETS

Sun Sun

Represents our own individuality, our sense of self, our identity. The Sun is the source of our own personal power and our creativity. It is also our ability to use our will, make decisions and take responsibility for ourselves.

Moon Moon

Represents our responsiveness to others and our need for contact with others and feedback from them. With the Moon we experience our feelings, the most significant of these being that of love. It is also the child within us that loves to play, have fun and be free.

Mercury Mercury

Is concerned with learning - usually from others - and all forms of communication.

Venus Venus

Is concerned with bringing harmony and balance into our lives. It is associated with taste and the food we eat and with aesthetic taste too.

Mars Mars

Symbolises energy that can be put to use to initiate, work and get things moving.

Jupiter Jupiter

Is also concerned with learning, but of a more perceptive kind. We use our senses and life experience with Jupiter learning, and it helps us to expand our viewpoints.

Saturn Saturn

Is concerned with the need for protection and security. It is associated with our physical well-being, our body. It represents grounding, limitations and boundaries, both physically and psychologically. It is concerned with everything on the material level.

Uranus Uranus

Is associated with change and the urge to be inventive and original and break new ground. It stirs us up and forces us to make changes.

NeptuneNeptune

Is the principle of selfless, higher love which comes from being in tune with the rest of creation. It is about unconditional love and inclusiveness.

Pluto Pluto

Brings into consciousness what has been hidden or neglected within the depths of ourselves. It represents powerful, transformative energies.

Moon’s Node Moon's Node

Actually not a planet at all, but represents a point in the whole chart set-up which is about personal and spiritual growth. Is included because it is the “signpost that” points the way forward into the area of life that will provide the greatest development for the individual.

THOUGHTS ON THE PLANETS

This was written by Irene Swarbrick, a newcomer to astrology and the Huber approach, whilst she was studying the subject at a local evening class run by Joyce Hopewell. Her words express her early impressions of this new subject:

Before I started my astrology class, I thought I was a true-to-type Sagittarian extrovert with an urge to travel, and loving new experiences so always trying to do something different, much to my family s amusement or irritation. The only thing which didn t quite add up was the emphasis on sport as one of my teachers said long, long ago «Really, Irene, with those long legs I don t Know why you can't run».

The sun and the Moon were delights in the sky, providing warmth and brightness by day and shining white mystery by night. Now I understand they give me personal power and take care of my emotional needs.

Venus is not only an armless statue or the goddess of Love, but gives me feminity and balance, while Mars that erstwhile God of war actually gives memasculine power and energy.

Quicksilver Mercury, the stuff of science and thermometers, helps me to learn from others, while Jupiter trains me to learn from experience.

If I thought of Saturn at all, it was to remember it had rings around it, or to use the derivative «saturnine» to describe some brooding dark hero. Lo and behold, this planet shows me how to be practical, know my limitations and search for a way to overcome them.

I can t say I ever thought of Uranus at all, but this one is really one after my own heart for it signifies change and should encourage my inventiveness.

Neptune recalled sea-green oceans, ever changing, moody and magnificent, or calm and peaceful, which tits in well with this new concept of being in tune with creation.

As for Pluto no, not the Disney dog, but the Greek God of the Underworld this is the planet which will make me conscious of my highest ambitions.

If I roll these strange revelations into a golden circle around me, my new awareness must make me stronger and willing to develop and extend my capabilities and potential.
